Under this year’s theme: Beat Plastic Pollution, The World Environment Day 2023 urges all of us to protect our natural surroundings and accelerate action towards a circular economy. This involves transitioning to climate resilient economies, promoting renewable energy and implementing sustainable land use as the United Nations estimates 7 million die each year from causes related to air pollution.
Optiven Limited celebration of the international day demonstrates our commitment to environmental sustainability and aligns with the Environment Protection Foundation pillar. Optiven recognises the importance of addressing environmental challenges and taking action to protect the planet through encouraging and usage of solar panels in all our projects, use of digital meters and a transition to biodigesters.
Sustainable Development Goal 13; Climate Action, is focused on taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. It recognises that climate change is a global challenge and requires a coordinated effort from all countries as well as stakeholders. Optiven Foundation has been raising awareness and educating staff, clients and the wider community about environmental conservation, climate change and sustainable practices.
“For the past 8 years we have been involved in conservation and sustainability going ahead to incorporate green spaces and trees in all our projects. We did not stop there and went further ahead to educate ourselves on energy conservation, waste reduction and the benefits of renewable energy,” Ann Nyagah Optiven Foundation coordinator said.
Through their go green initiative, Optiven Limited were acknowledged at the Kenya Professional Realtors Award in March 2023 on their Economic Social Governance blueprint and we were recognised as the Green Tech Company of the Year 2022. Speaking at the award, George Wachiuri in his capacity as Chairman of the Optiven Foundation said;
“We are happy that as a company, our go green initiative has been singled out and awarded. This is a great impetus for the team to continue advocating and working towards sustainability initiatives to make our world a better place. I dedicate this award to all those making a difference in the environmental and sustainable circles.”
The government has been encouraging initiatives to combat climate setting a target of 30 million by 2032 and on May 20th at Achievers Paradise by Optiven, we planted over 250 trees throughout the whole project as this day encourages worldwide participation. https://www.optiven.co.ke/newsblogs/tree-planting-at-achievers-paradise-kimuka-ngong/
